Do you lose track of your cat in your yard or in your house?
Cats are the ultimate tricksters when it comes to hiding and sometimes they aren’t even trying to hide but we think they are or they are playing tricks on us!
If you’re like me, most evenings you’re tromping through thick grass half way having a panic attack thinking of the worst possible thing has happened to your little furry friend but I (and many others) have come up with a solution that is mostly fool proof and pretty darn cheap. Get an Apple AirTag! What you say? The things you put on your key chain to find your lost keys? YEP! It works so well!
Below is my review on using an AirTag on your kitty.
For starters Apple doesn’t recommend using an AirTag on pets but I’m not sure why. They are safe and one of the smallest, lightest options in terms of tracking. First of all an AirTag is less than $30 on the Apple site or even on Amazon, then you’ll need some way to attach it to your cat so there’s lots of collars and holders you can purchase to hold the AirTag. I was overwhelmed by all the options so here’s my recommendation: get this one. The reason I like this one is because it holds the AirTag tightly, it’s a nice velour collar and of course it’s a breakaway color to keep your kitty safe. I purchased and tried a few. Most of the options are to get a silicone holder that holds the AirTag that you slide onto your pets collar but I found they stick out and sometimes the AirTag falls out. Do NOT purchase a dangling one. The dangling ones might work for dogs but they are too big for a cat. If you do get dangling one get the Belkin one here because it’s small, secure and cheap.
I’ve been using the AirTag for about 3 weeks while my cat is outside and I like it a lot because I can see generally where she is. I think people and maybe Apple doesn’t recommend it because you can’t see your pets exact location but it does show how many feet away your pet is which is think is pretty accurate. The other cool thing is if you get close enough you can play a noise from the AirTag and that’s ultimately how I find my cat in the deep grass!
